Dr. Hu has been working on the prevention and treatment of Cholelithiasis (Gallstones) over 30 years, and has performed over tens of thousands of gallbladder surgeries. He is one of the pioneers in China to carry out basic and clinical research on gallbladder preservation and he dedicatedly advocates rational clinical practice of gallbladder preservation. His medical expertise includes gasless surgery invented by himself, cholecystectomy, complex surgery, etc. His capabilities of performing clean, neat and efficient procedures and surgeries won him good reputation all over the country. His eagerness to innovate new medical skills have earned him over 30 invention patents in China and America.

Dr. Hu has received various recognitions and awards including Winner of the National “May 1st” Labor Medal; State Council Special Expert; titles of “National Famous Doctor” and “Shanghai Famous Doctor”, and others. He is the Chairman of Shanghai Science and Technology Development Foundation; Executive Director of China Association of Non-Government Medical Association and Chairman of the Gallstone Disease Special Committee; Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of Gallbladder Preservation Special Committee of the Chinese Medical Association; Standing Committee Member of  the World Chinese Endoscopic Doctor Association; and Vice Chairman of Surgical Committee of the Shanghai Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine.

Dr. Jinli Cai (China)
Associate Chief Gallbladder Surgeon

Dr Cai is a Chief Surgeon and associate professor. He holds doctoral degree of Clinical Medicine in Minimally Invasive Surgery, postdoctoral fellow, and is Mentor for Master's degree medical students. He is one of the principal specialist and leader of the Gallstone Disease Center.

Dr Cai is dedicated to clinical work in cholelithiasis surgery for 30 years. He is one of the surgeons who has performed the largest numbers of laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgeries as well as single hole / pinhole gallbladder surgeries in China.

He is particularly skilled in ultra minimally invasive gallbladder surgeries of single incision gallbladder resection and pinhole gallbladder preservation, etc.

He diagnoses and treats gallstones, gallbladder polyps, acute and chronic cholecystitis, adenomyosis, atrophic cholecystitis, biliary pancreatitis, intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile duct stones, benign and malignant tumors of the gallbladder and bile duct, complex biliary diseases, etc,. He is proficient in single port laparoscopic cholecystectomy, pinhole laparoscopic gallbladder preservation and stone removal surgery, pinhole laparoscopic gallbladder polyp preservation and polyp removal surgery, laparoscopic common bile duct surgery, ERCP surgery, laparoscopic difficult gallbladder surgery, etc.

Dr. Anhua Huang (China)
Associate Chief Gallbladder Surgeon

Dr. Huang is specialized in different types of procedures for gallbladder preservation and cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), gallstones prevention and treatment, individualized treatment of gallbladder polyps, and dealing with intrahepatic and extrahepatic biliary diseases, and post-operative gallbladder diseases follow-up management. He is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of common and frequently-occurring diseases in general surgery, as well as the rescue of emergency and critical patients. Dr. Huang can analyze and handle various complex cases, especially that of a biliary tract surgeries. Dr. Huang has independently completed nearly 10,000 cases of various types of surgeries.

Dr. Huang has a comprehensive and solid theoretical knowledge and good basic skills. He is a national-level resident standardized training teacher, a member of the Chinese Society of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Disaster Medicine Branch, and so on. Dr. Huang has published more than ten papers in both local and foreign magazines, such as SCI; and has participated in academic works and won awards.

Dr. Anan Xu (China)
Gallstone Disease Surgeon

Dr Xu An'an serves as the Principal Physician Team Leader and Chief Expert of the Gallstone Center. He is also a senior visiting scholar to Germany and a national-level specialist training supervisor in general surgery.

With over 20 years of dedicated experience in biliary surgery, Dr. Xu has amassed extensive clinical expertise and is particularly adept at ultra-minimally invasive techniques. His surgical practice is distinguished by the principles of steadiness, precision and resoluteness. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of gallbladder diseases as well as biliary, pancreatic and hepatobiliary disorders, including gallbladder stones, gallbladder polyps, adenomyomatosis of the gallbladder, choledocholithiasis, intrahepatic bile duct stones, gallstone-induced pancreatitis, and anomalous pancreaticobiliary junction, among others. He has made remarkable achievements in a wide range of complex and challenging laparoscopic cholecystectomy procedures, such as surgeries for elderly patients, reoperations following major abdominal surgeries, laparoscopic common bile duct exploration, and interventional and minimally invasive treatments for intrahepatic bile duct stones.

Dr Xu excels in ultra-minimally invasive gallbladder surgeries, including Needle-port laparoscopic gallbladder-preserving surgery as well as single-port, needle-port, and two-port ultra-minimally invasive laparoscopic cholecystectomy. He is committed to evaluating and formulating the optimal individualized treatment plans for patients.

Dr. Xu has personally performed nearly 20,000 laparoscopic gallbladder and biliary tract surgeries with an extremely low complication rate. He ranks among the leading surgeons in China in terms of the number of complex and difficult gallbladder surgeries performed as well as the number of single-port/needle-port gallbladder surgeries conducted.

Dr. Xu holds numerous academic positions. He is a member of the Endoscopic Minimally Invasive Alliance for Gallstone Disease of the World Endoscopic Physicians Association, a Standing Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Committee of the Chinese Research-oriented Physicians Association, a Committee Member of the Gallbladder Preservation Committee of the Endoscopy Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, a Committee Member of the Gallstone Disease Professional Committee of the Chinese Non-governmental Medical Institutions Association, a Committee Member of the Surgery Professional Committee of the Shanghai Association of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, and a Committee Member of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Branch of the Shanghai Pudong New Area Medical Association. Additionally, he serves as an Editorial Board Member and Secretary-General of Chinese Journal of Endoscopy, and a Reviewer for Chinese Journal of Laparoscopic Surgery.

Dr. Xu has published more than 100 academic papers in both domestic and international journals, including 32 papers as the first author or co-first author (9 of which are indexed in SCI). He holds 5 national invention patents and 12 utility model patents. He has presided over and successfully completed 5 research projects, including the Cultivation Fund of National Key Universities, the General Program of the Pudong New Area Health Commission, and the Excellent Young Medical Talents Program of Pudong New Area. He has also participated in 9 research projects at various levels, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He is the chief editor of Minimally Invasive Biliary Surgery and Endoscopic Gallbladder-preserving Surgery, and a co-editor of 7 monographs, such as Biliary Surgery and Cholecystectomy Surgery. He has been awarded the Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Progress Award.

Renowned for his outstanding performance, Dr. Xu has earned an impeccable reputation among patients.
